Reclaimed Wood Shelf

$1,500.00

DIMENSIONS: 82" tall X 36" wide at the base X 12" deep.

Marc Deloach hand built this functional shelf from salvaged spruce wood that was book matched from the same tree. The boards were taken from an 1815 house that was deconstructed, numbered, stored, and kept in amazing condition given its age. The wood has little digits and letters stamped in it to identify location for the rebuild. The lumber still has the saw marks from the water-driven pitsaw, and the holes from the old-school square nails that were probably handcut. You can see the roman numerals scratched in the boards to keep track of the count. You can also see the knots and limbs on the beautiful, live-edge material. Note the “ears” on top. They show the original ax marks from when the tree was cut. The randomness of the wavy lumber translated into a fluid, organic piece. Marc used a wax-over-tung oil finish low, low gloss, really rich and warm. The color is unaltered. He branded his signature on the bottom. The result is a piece of art that also functions as a great display space. It's a one-of-a-kind piece that is sure to become a family heirloom.
